I’ve always liked eating protein bars. I always have a few laying around the house, I keep some at work and I take them when I do other outdoor sports like hiking and mountain bike riding. I’ve tried a few over the years, about half of which I didn’t like the taste/texture of at all!

I recently came across this post over at the Supplements Explained site: best tasting protein bars. These guys tested about 20 top protein and nutritional bars on the market, definitely worth a read.

I have tried a few from the list. I have only tried 1 of their top 5, and that’s the Optimum Nutrition one. It’s a great tasting bar, and one of my favorites. Another one that didn’t make the top 5 though is my favorite, Mex-Rx Big 100 bars. Ton of flavors, cheap, and they taste good.

You have to watch out with some of these protein bars. Some brands contain loads of sugar and saturated fat. Before you buy, check out the label. Pay attention to how many calories come from fat.

Does anyone else eat protein bars? I don’t eat them daily, maybe a few week depending on what’s going on. Post your comments below…
